A field guide to the /lens-metrics skill

AI Metrics Definition Doc Generator

Most teams have metrics with 5 different definitions. /lens-metrics defines North Star + input metrics with SQL, ownership, cadence, and action triggers.

Metrics drift in their definitions. Active users means seven different things across the team. Revenue is reported three ways depending on the report. Conversion is timed differently in product analytics than in finance. Without a single definition source, every report becomes a discussion of what the numbers mean.

The /lens-metrics skill defines the metrics framework top-down. North Star metric with rationale. Supporting input metrics with precise definitions. SQL per metric so the math is reproducible. Ownership assignment per metric. Review cadence. Action triggers (what to do when the metric moves).

What the framework includes

North Star: one metric that captures product success. Input metrics: 4-7 supporting metrics that move the North Star. SQL definitions: exact query per metric. Ownership: a person or team owns each metric. Cadence: weekly, monthly, quarterly review. Action triggers: what to do when the metric moves outside the expected band.

Tonone's /lens-metrics skill defines metrics frameworks with North Star, input metrics, SQL definitions, ownership, cadence, and action triggers.
